Tracking Keyword Sales in Google Analytics
If you do e-commerce, you most probably have some search engine traffic coming to your online shop. To optimize your SEO for your business, it is essential to track which keywords generated sales. With this detailed report, you can see which keywords brought in how many sales on your website. It is a key element to knowing where to hit next for your search engine optimization. In this tutorial, I will show you how to configure this feature in your Google Analytics.
1. Start by opening Google Analytics and logging in.
2. Next to the profile for which you want to add this report, click on Edit
3. Under Goals, click on Add goal for the Goal set you want (if this is your first goal you configure, just choose Goal set 1)
4. Follow the directions in the image follow to fill in the fields.

5. Click on Save Goal
6. Click on View Reports for the website profile of your e-commerce shop.
7. On the left click on Custom Reporting then on Manage Custom Reports
8. On the top right click on Create new custom report
9. Fill in the boxes as showed in the screenshot below. It is a simple drag and drop. You can find the Visits blue box under Metrics > Site Usage (last item). You can find the Goal1 Completions blue box under Metrics > Goals.
10. For the Main Dimension (right below the blue boxes), drag the Source/Medium item from the Dimensions > Traffic Sources section.
11. First sub dimension, drag the Keyword item from the Dimensions > Traffic Sources section.
12. Second sub dimension, drag the Referral Path item from the Dimensions > Traffic Sources section.
13. Click on Save Report.

14. Under Custom Reporting, you will find your new report, click on it.
15. If you click on the google/organic traffic, a report of visit count and goal completions appear. You can sort them and view all the sales gnerated by every keyword.
